There is an untouchable heritage in addition to the objects or lineament which everyone has to bear. Joy, gloom, habits and fate of grandparents and great grandparents leave traces on us. This legacy is revealed in people surrounding me and in my encounters: the branches of the family tree, like the roots reflecting the tree, repeat themselves.
I have collected family legends, stories and patterns which I already feel happening in my life, or the possibility of continuity is there. I am either looking forward to it, or I fear it, sometimes I have to accept being similar to old family members, sometimes I have to act against it.
There are many similarities in the history of different families. I wrote mine on cards and also invited the visitors to share their own ones.
I have photographed people from my surrounding and asked them to represent family roles: they act as father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, brother, sister, bride, husband and wife. The situations and characters are partly made up by my own family stories, and partly they picture the natural relations and qualities of the model. Picture and set is a symbolic tool for accepting and understanding heritage./
